YEA SUMMER IS COMING!!!!

Wow...time flies! My boys are getting so big and even more adorable. A quick update for anyone who might happen to be reading this...we are now living in Utah. My boys are 3 1/2 and 11 months!!! Alex loves to read books, play pretend (usually soldier or warrior of some sort!), play with this neighbor friends or bug his little brother! :) Conner is a super fast crawler and loves to climb!! His favorite room in the house is the bathroom!! Anytime we accidentally leave the door open he is in there in a flash!!! He hasn't quite made it in the toilet yet but with is fascination with water I am sure he will soon! He is also starting to make a lot more noise...his favorite words are "bonk" (which he says after headbutting you and grinning!) and "upupupupupup" (when we wants to be picked up). Both boys are the joy of my life and I can't imagine being without them! I am so glad that I get to stay at home and watch them grow.

Bath time is a fun time....and a very wet time! Both boys love the water and we are lucky to keep some of it in the tub! :)
Alex is very excited to have a brother to play with...but he want's Conner to grow up faster than he is! It is hard for him to understand that Conner still can't do all the things he can do. In this picture Daddy was pulling Conner in our mini wagon and Alex was following close behind.
Well that is all for now!! Enjoy the pictures!!

One Week Left!!!

Ok...so we all know that my blogging skills are not very good....so lets get past that and I will give the current update!!

I am currently in my last week of pregnancy #2!!! Hooray!!! I am WAY ready to be done. In the last couple of days my ankles decided they didn't like their current appearance and now look closer to those of an elephant!!! Besides big ankles and looking like I have a large basketball attached to my tummy...I am doing pretty well! I am excited to be done with the "fat" stage and move on to the wonderful world of newborns!!

Alex is now just over two and a half seems to be pretty excited about a little brother. He told me that baby "Conner" can sleep in his bed with him and he will sing him some songs. We shall see if this is really what Alex thinks of a newborn when he gets here! Alex has always been a very verbal little guy and as he grows this continues to be the case. Here is a little taste of his verbal/singing skills and his hilarious little personality! He always makes me smile!

As for Thomas...he is still pluggin' along at the shipyard....but has decided that he would like to go back to school and get his Masters in Engineering. He is currently studying for the GRE and hoping to take that soon so we can get into the winter semester at BYU-Provo. We will see how things go with that and keep everyone posted!Being pregnant has limited a lot of our family activities but we still found some fun things to do in the last little while. A couple of weeks ago we got to attend the Arms Forces Parade. It was supposedly the largest Arms Forces Parade in the United States. We watched for an hour and a half...then Alex got cranky and we had to leave before it finished. It was pretty cool! A couple of motercyle guys broke down right in front of us so Alex got to sit on one of their bikes while they tried to get them running again!

We also got to go to the Tulip festival with Thomas' younger sister, Johanna. It was amazing!! We took a trolley ride around the field and took tons of pictures. It was like watching a rainbow of flowers! Then when we were done looking we bought some really pretty tulips to take home.

Well that is all for now. I hope everyone is doing well and I will try my hardest to update my blog again when the newest member of the Calkins family graces us with his presence!!!

Trying to catch up!

Hello friends and family. I know it has been a while but life got busy and I am just now catching up! For those who didn't know...Thomas graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering back in April. We then packed up our stuff and headed out to the city of Bremerton, WA. We are currently living in a pretty nice two bedroom apartment and Thomas has a good job at the Naval Shipyard. We plan on being here until the end of next summer and then it is off to a currently unknown place for Thomas to get his Masters. Life is going well. Thomas is enjoying work for the most part and has a calling with the Deacons which fills a lot of his spare time.

I am a happy stay at home Mommy and Alex and I have many many adventures together. He loves the many parks by our house....and especially likes to go to the beach and throw rocks in the water.

Alex is growing like a week and as usual is talking up a storm. He is turning two in a couple of weeks and it already asking questions and saying 6-7 word sentances. He amazes all who hear him talk. It is so cute to see so many words come out of such a small little man! Well I have to run...but I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the beautiful colors of fall!

Our Indoor Playland!

Well the weather has been getting warmer but we still have been spending most of our time indoors. Alex is a pretty entergetic little boy and it is fun to see what he will come up with to do. One day he decided to dump out his ball bucket and sit in it. Seeing how it is too small for him it made a pretty cute picture.

To assist Alex in his indoor play Thomas and I decided to make him a little house out of our television box. Thomas cut a door in it and some windows and I eventually taped some construction paper to it . Alex really enjoyed helping me decorate it with stickers and loves to go in and out and in and out all day long. He also loves to peek his head out the windows and say "Hi" with a big smile on his face.
Alex's favorite animal is a kitty. Our neighbors have a cat and I think that led to his love of cats. So a couple of weeks ago I found a cute white stuffed cat and bought it for him. He loves it! He carries him around the house, takes naps with him and calls him his "mow"! Mow is the sound that cats make! hee hee

Well my time is almost up...Alex is getting anxious for me to play with him again....so I will finish with one more cute story. So...a couple of nights ago I was checking on Alex while he was sleeping. I fixed his blanket and made sure he was warm enough. Then he rolled over and in his sleep he said, "cheese"! It was really funny! Alex loves to eat and it didn't surprise me that food was on his mind even in his sleep.

It's Cold Outside...Dooo Dee Dee Dee Dee!!!

Well... the weather outside has been frightful but the heater inside has been fairly delightful. Alex and I have lots of time inside and we have been running out of ideas of things to do. Currently Alex's favorite things are dumping all the toys out of thier boxes. Then carrying the toys around the house and depositing them in random places for me to find later in the week when I am cleaning. He also loves to read books....or rather for me to read books to him. He will follow me around the house with a book or if I am sitting on the couch he will shove his book in my face and say, "Reeee". (Read) And there is no way I can say, "No" to a face like his.

Along with dumping toys and reading books, Alex also likes to put things on. His most recent fad is wearing my headbands. He wears them on his head and sometimes around his neck. It's really cute! He also will try on any clothings that is left laying in the living room. One day Thomas left a shirt on the couch...Alex found it and wrapped it around his neck. Then Thomas took it and tied it around him like a toga. He looked like a miniature yoda!!

Well I'll tell you one thing, with Alex around I am never bored. He always finds something silly to do to bring a smile to my face. We both are looking forward to summer and fun in the sun and hope that winter will pass by soon! Until then we will ever be on the look out for new and exciting things to pass the time! Well that's all for now! Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!
